Mary Atwood is a surface designer and illustrator currently residing in Seattle, Washington with her husband and their five fuzzy buddies. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, she packed up everything she owned and drove across the country to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. There, she continues her commitment to creating childlike happiness and enjoyment through her love for art. Gouache, watercolor, ink, and printmaking are a few of the hand rendered techniques she employs and continues to evolve for her graphic, print, and textile designs. Her main influences stem from fairy tales, Eastern European and East Asian folk patterns and motifs, and all flora and fauna. She enjoys creating original artwork as an independent artist for local solo or group gallery exhibits, as well as collaborating with teams to create patterns and designs for soft and hard home goods. She is currently open to freelance and collaborative inquiries.
